PA American Water Hosts Meeting for New Water Treatment Plant Construction Project

Pennsylvania American Water announced today that the company will be hosting an informational meeting regarding the construction of a new water treatment in Wayne Township, Lawrence County, on July 20, 2017, at the Chewton Fire Hall located at 196 Alice Street, in Wampum, Pa.

Pennsylvania American Water representatives will be available for discussion starting at 6 p.m. through 8 p.m. to provide residents with information on the construction process and the new plant’s design, which will increase production capacity, improve reliability and energy efficiency, enhance safety, and ensure compliance with all water quality standards.

The new plant will replace the Ellwood Water Treatment Plant, which was originally constructed in 1909 and has met the end of its useful life span. The existing plant has capacity and reliability limitations that will be improved with the new facilities.

The new plant will provide drinking water to the existing Ellwood Water Treatment service areas, which includes approximately 7,200 customers in communities located in southern Lawrence and Butler Counties and portions of northeastern Beaver County.
