Police Find Crack Cocaine and Sleep Apnea Machine in Vehicle

According to the criminal complaint, on June 14, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration. Operator of the vehicle, Christopher Patrick Bruno, 61, of Ellwood City, did not hold a valid drivers license and was under driving suspension in Florida and Pennsylvania. Bruno also had an active warrant for his arrest through the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. Bruno was detained for the warrant, and he advised officers of his sleep apnea machine in his car that he would need for sleeping. Officers opened a bag in the car to confirm the machine was in there, which also contained three suspected glass crack pipes containing char-boy and suspected crack cocaine reside. The officer then completed an inventory search of the vehicle, uncovering multiple small white pieces of suspected crack cocaine. Bruno is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and registration and certification of title required.

Ellwood City Man Facing Assault Charges

According to the police report on June 12, officers were dispatched to Weisz Hazel Manor for an assault. Ex-girlfriend of David Kimmel, 28. of Ellwood City reported that she was assaulted by Kimmel after he followed her into the bar and started yelling at her. She reported he then pushed her into a trophy cause and punched her in the face. Officers observed swelling under her left eye and a small cut. Kimmel left the scene prior to the officers arrival but will be facing charges of simple assault and harassment.
