Joseph P. Bonfield, 79

Mr. Joseph P. Bonfield, 79, of Ellport passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Mr. Bonfield was born on May 15, 1939 in New Castle to the late Joseph and Ida (Latess) Bonfield. He is a member of the New Castle High School class of 1957. Joe worked as the manager of his mothers service station in New Castle following the passing of his father until they sold the business. He then worked at the Ellwood City Boron Station, later known as the BP Station, for 24 years as a mechanic. Joe then worked at Trader Horn in Franklin Twp. as a sales clerk for 6 years. He is a life member of the Sons of Italy and had called bingo at the club for 20 years. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, bowling, and raising his beagles. Presently he was an avid Nascar fan and devoted grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Roseann (Bennett) Bonfield whom he married on October 19, 1989, his daughters, Carroll Bonfield and Kimberly (John) Hunter both of Ellwood City, his sons, David (Lisa Knox) McCaslin of Pasadena, CA and Kevin McCaslin, and his grandchildren, Ethan Hunter, Trent Bonfield, and Gaetano Hunter. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Johnson of New Castle, and his nephews, Scott Johnson and Brandon (Christine) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Raymond Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
