Old Photo Friday: Parade on Lawrence Avenue

This week’s Old Photo Friday, courtesy of the Ellwood City Historical Society. Umbrellas were in full force at this parade in downtown Ellwood City on Lawrence Avenue.

Can you name the business that is displayed on the storefront marquee that is missing letters? Do you know what this parade was for or an estimated year? Please share and comment.

The business is J.C. Penney. I would say it is parade to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial because of the placard on Ellwood Federal building.

  2. The store is JC Penney Co. Its the USA Bicentennial (1976)

The apartment shown above Penney’s was where my grandmother, Birdie (Scheidemantle) Haswell lived.
