Ellwood City Residents Pay $10 Per Capita, Per Year

Ellwood City Tax Collector, Mary Ann Portugallo informs the community that Ellwood City residents pay $10 a year per capita if you are 18 years or older, with a few exceptions.

Residents of Ellwood who are 18 years and older, but are actively enrolled as a student in high school or college do not have to pay. Residents in Ellwood residing in a nursing home also do not have to pay.

If people fall outside of these two categories there will be a $10 yearly fee administered per person. Five dollars is charged to the electric bill and the remaining $5 is charged in a bill sent from the school in July when school tax comes out.

If a person’s household should fall outside of the Ellwood City limits or is part of a different township the charges will be administered by and paid to the tax collector.

If a person owns more than one house, only the person living in the home pays $10. A person should only pay a maximum of $10 per year.

If you receive a letter in the mail stating you owe money from past years and are questioning it, do not hesitate to call Portugallo at the Ellwood City Tax Collector office and ask questions. Do not pay any money before consulting with the city tax collector, there have been reports of fraudulent letters phishing for money. The Ellwood City Tax Collector office number is 724-758-9673.
