Lillian Durbin French, 96

Lillian Durbin French, 96, formerly of Ellwood City passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Littleton, Colorado. Born December 3, 1921 in Chewton, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles P. and Martha Smith Durbin.

She was married for 62 years to Russell B. French, who passed away December 28, 2013. Lillian graduated from Lincoln High School; Indiana State Teachers College (PA); and the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her Masters of Letters Degree in accounting. Lillian worked as a teacher at Lincoln High School until her marriage She married her husband in July of 1951 and they moved to Long Island, New York in 1952 and called it home for 32 years until his retirement in 1984 when they returned home to the Ellwood City Area. She was Lutheran by faith.

Survivors include a son, Howard French and his wife Jo Ann of Falcon Heights, Minnesota; daughter, Judy Thomson of Centennial, Colorado; and five grandchildren: Daniel French, and Aimee, Joel, Brian, and Marc Thomson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Durbin and a son-in-law, William Thomson.

Friends will be received on Saturday February 17, 2018 from 2:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Gene Hydrick of the Chewton Christian Church will officiate the services. Entombment will follow in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Mausoleum.
