John Robert Gavrile, 65

John Robert Gavrile, 65 of Ellwood City passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Born in Ellwood City on April 28, 1952, John was the son of the late John and Antonetta Butchelle Gavrile.  John is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Jesseman whom he married on September 16, 1979.  John had worked at the Aetna Standard in Ellwood until its closing.  He later worked for Phoenix Glass in Monaca and at US Airways.  John always enjoyed sports, playing as a youth and later in several Ellwood adult softball leagues.  John also enjoyed coaching, he coached BVM CYO basketball, both Riverside and Ellwood youth soccer, he coached the Ellwood 5th and 6th grade girls basketball teams.  John also coached and was a board member of the Little Angels and Youth League softball.  John was a member of the Ellwood City Moose Lodge.

Besides John’s wife Kelly, he is survived by 2 children, Scott Michael Gavrile of New Castle and April Lynn (John) Chervick of Ellwood City, 2 granddaughters, MacKenzie and Ariana Gavrile, 2 sisters, MaryAnne Gavrile of New Castle and Patty (Doug) Minteer of Bacliff, TX, his father-in-law, William Jesseman of Melbourne, FL, his mother-in-law, Carol Kirkham Cutich of Franklin Twp. and his beloved dogs, Buddy and Cricket.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Dave Jesseman.

Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 7 PM following calling hours with Rev. Josh Mackenstein of the New Brighton Free Methodist Church.

Private interment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
