Guido R. “Bob” Clerici, 93

Mr. Guido R. “Bob” Clerici, 93, of New Galilee peacefully went to be reunited with his loving wife and son on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Mr. Clerici was born on November 30, 1924 in New Galilee to the late Anthony and Giacinta Franchi Clerici. Guido is a member of the Beaver Falls High School class of 1942. After high school he was drafted into the Glider Troops and later into the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the 17th Airborne Division, Company H. 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment  with the rank of Private First Class from April 29, 1943 until his discharge on December 21, 1945 . He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, Ardenne Forest, and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Following his service with the Army, Guido worked at Darlington Brick as a foreman for 33 years, and at the Babcock & Wilcox steel mill in Koppel and Ambridge as a lathe and grinder operator for 14 years.  He also had played minor league baseball in Lockport, New York. He started little league baseball in New Galilee, and was the manager for the American Legion baseball team in New Galilee. Guido is a member of the St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Darlington and a life time member of the LMBA Club in New Galilee. Guido also served on the New Galilee School Board for two terms.

Mr. Clerici is survived by his daughter Kimberly (Richard) Pagani of Darlington Twp., his son Brian Clerici, his grandchildren Anthony (Carrie) Clerici, Hayley (Chad) Chambers, and Melody Clerici, and his great-grandchildren Wyatt Clerici, Marshall Clerici, Ella Clerici, Nylla Clerici, Gracie Clerici, Tyson Sherer, and Jade Chambers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Ferrigno Clerici whom he married on September 5, 1953 and passed away on May 3, 2010, his son Gary Clerici, and his sisters Rena Clerici in infancy, Marie Rollins, and Edith Clerici.

A private visitation and Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services with  Father Kim Schreck officiating. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday to conduct full military honors.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Clerici’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
