Eugene “Gene” Ierace, 88

Eugene “Gene” Ierace, 88, of Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on January 4, 1930 in Ellwood City, Gene was the son of the late Dominic and Bertha Florio Ierace.  He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Joyce Fosnaught, whom he married on September 15, 1956.  Gene retired from Air Products and Chemicals where he was a plant supervisor.  A Veteran of the US Army, Gene served in Korea from 1951 to 1953.  He enjoyed fishing, music, home remodeling projects and spending time with his family.

Gene is survived his wife, Joyce, of Hermitage, four children; Kathryn Lynch of Alexandria, VA, Tom Ierace, also of Alexandria, VA, Betty Jo (Scott) Rockwell of Shepherdstown, WV and Dan (Lori) Ierace of Reva, VA, two granddaughters, Gina Rockwell of Shepherdstown, WV and Erin Lynch of NY, NY, a sister, Josephine Massine of Ellwood City and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by four brothers:  Philip, Sam, Albert and Robert Ierace and a sister, Rose Nocera.

Friends will be received on Thursday, January 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.  Visitation will be immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at Holy Redeemer Church at 12 noon with Fr. Mark Thomas.  Full military rites will conducted by the Veteran’s Honor Guard.
