Virginia Y. LaCava, 91

Mrs. Virginia Y. LaCava, 91, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at The Grove in Harmony.

Mrs. LaCava was born on September 22, 1926 in Wampum to the late Keith and Martha Boone Hazen, Sr.. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1944, and the Providence Baptist Church. Virginia had worked at the U.S. Steel Tube Mill in Ellwood City during World War II, the Ellwood City News Stand, and Straws Bakery. For many years she volunteered with the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, the Golden Agers, and served as a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. She mainly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Lunn of Cary, NC, her son Gregory D. (Noreen) LaCava of Ellwood City, her grandchildren; Gregg Lunn, Christopher Lunn, Erica LaCava, Adam Cohen, Allissa Cohen, her great-grandchildren; Samuel Lunn, Mathew Marsano, and Chanse Marsano, and her sister Helen Henderson of New Castle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years Joseph H. LaCava, her daughter Elaine Cohen, and her brothers Robert D. Hazen and Keith Hazen, Jr..

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. Pastor Calvin Cummings will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. LaCava’s name may be made to the Providence Baptist Church, 201 Chapel Dr., Ellwood City, Pa 16117.
