The Connoquenessing was 1 of 5 nominations picked out of hundreds of submissions. As we all know, over time this local waterway had been neglected and abused leading to its rating as the 2nd most polluted waterway in America in 2000.
Since then through Allegheny Aquatic Alliance and other organizations’ efforts, significant positive changes have been made to this creek and have resulted in the restoration of it.
