Hunting Season

Size comparison of a horse and deer

Pennsylvania’s rifle deer hunting season starts today and will run through December 9.

According to Pennsylvania’s Game Commission, they estimate about 550,000 hunters with rifles are expected to take to the woods in search of white-tailed deer.

Hunters are allowed to harvest one buck, as well as an antlerless deer for each antlerless permit they hold.

We encourage everyone to practice safety while out hunting and be alert for other people and animals. Last year a local man mistook a horse for a deer, resulting in the horse’s death.

For anyone who plans on walking in and around the woods during hunting season, remember to wear noticeably bright clothing.
