Panthers Run Over Frazier In WPIAL Playoff Opening Round Victory

The Riverside Panthers used a strong ground game and a stout defense to blank Frazier 34-0 in WPIAL Class-AA opening round action Friday night at Riverside Memorial Stadium.

Panther back LeMarcus Cleckley rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns to lead the offensive attack that scored twice in the second quarter and twice in the second half to soundly defeat the Commodores .

Riverside running back Noah Harris joined Cleckley in the 100-yard club, finishing the contest with 107 yards rushing including the games opening score.

Rounding out the offensive playmakers, senior Austin Dambach caught three passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively the Panthers blocked a first half punt and Dambach intercepted a pass thwarting a would-be Commodores second half offensive drive.

The #4 seeded Panthers (8-2 overall) next play Avonworth in the WPIAL Class-AA quarterfinals on the road to RMU.  The #12 seeded Antelopes upended #5 seed Charleroi (9-2 overall) in the opening round Friday night.

Friday’s game against the Antelopes is a rematch of last year, when the Panthers reached the semifinals by defeating Avonworth.  With a victory in the quarterfinals Friday, a potential rematch with defending PIAA 2A champion Steel Valley would be looming for Riverside who fell to the Ironmen in their season opener.
