YDC Property Contract Terminated, Says Bernstine

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today issued the following update regarding the status of sale of the Youth Development Center (YDC) property in Lawrence County to the HIRA Education Services:

“The former YDC property sale to HIRA Educational Services has been permanently stopped.  I would like to thank the Shenango Township supervisors, Rep. Chris Sainato, Sen. Elder Vogel and the countless community activists who joined forces to help bring this Lawrence County nightmare to an end. This property will once again be placed for bid by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I look forward to working with the community to ensure we bring a business to our region that will produce jobs for our residents.”

According to Bernstine, the reason for the stopped sale is because HIRA was unable to meet the final financial requirements.

It is unclear at this time if they will be receiving the money back that has already been paid.

The property will be back up for sale within the next month.
