The Riverside nonprofit organization, ROAR, hosted a “Touch a Truck” event yesterday as part of their annual fundraising activities.

Laura Zelch, a mother of three who attend Riverside, is one of the founders of the organization and thought a “Touch a Truck” event would be a unique and fun way to get the community, especially those with children, interested in the event.

“We reached out to our contacts and put together an event we thought would appeal to the children in the community. The turn out was a direct reflection of how great and supportive the community is – everyone had a great time, including the adults,” she stated.

The Touch a Truck event had a wide variety of vehicles for the goers to interact with, including the popular vintage fire truck, army convoy, and helicopter.

The ROAR organization also hosts the annual Haunted Hayride at the school in October, and in the spring, the Steeler Basketball Charity Game.

All proceeds of the organizations events go towards raising funds needed to construct public restrooms and a field house at the Riverside Memorial Stadium.

Although the end goal is far from being reached, Zelch said they are going to get there no matter how long it takes.

The organization is always accepting donations, to get involved or to donate go to their official website here.
