Albert G. Smith Jr. “Smitty”, 67

Albert G. Smith Jr. “Smitty”, 67, of old Rt. 18, Wampum passed away unexpectedly though in ill health Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his home.

Born May 3, 1950 in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of the late Albert Sr. and Sophie Kazenski Smith. He was married to Avis D’Amico Smith for 38 years, she survives.

Smitty was a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1999, where he retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was a Marine during the Vietnam War 1968-1972. Smitty was a member of the 1/229th and 1/107th PA National Guard. He also retired from the PA Liquor Control Board. Smitty is a Catholic by faith. He loved to paint and do yard work. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors including his wife Avis. A son, Ryan McDonald of Wampum; daughter, Johanna (Paul) McQuiston of New Castle; two sisters, Terry Brooks of FL, and Mary Bost of IN; five grandchildren, Madison, Jonathan, and Samantha McDonald; Keenan and Liam McQuiston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday June 19, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 pm until the time of the Blessing Service at 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Inc. 341 Main Street, Wampum.
