Anna R. Spoa, 96

Mrs. Anna R. Spoa, 96, formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Avalon Spring Health Campus in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Mrs. Spoa was born on February 12, 1921 in Gary, Indiana to the late Michael and Anna Molnar. She had served with the U.S. Army, Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) from October 3, 1942 until her discharge on July 27, 1943. She had worked at Weirton Steel and Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Factory in Baltimore, MD.  Anna later was a home maker and a really good cook,  she enjoyed making Sunday dinner for her family and  loved taking care of her cats.

Mrs. Spoa is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Larry) Koch of Freedom, her son, George Spoa of Burns Harbor, IN, her granddaughters, Erin (Christopher) Wheeler of Myrtle, Beach, SC,  June Kimmel of Hanna, IN, and Kimberly (Jesse) Spoa-Harty of Westville, IN, her grandson, Daniel Koch of Sleepy Hollow, NY, her great-grandchildren, “Elle” Gabrielle Kimmel, Zak” Zackery Kimmel, Michael Koch, Brock Harty, and Nolan Harty. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Rose Molnar and Irene Molnar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George H. Spoa whom she married on June 22, 1947 and passed away on February 27, 1999, her grandson-in-law Richard Kimmel, and her brothers, James, Frank, and Michael Molnar.

The family would like to thank the staff, caregivers, and all her friends at Avalon Springs Health Campus for the exceptional care and friendship they have extended to Anna.

Family and Friends are invited to the Blessing Service which will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00am at the Locust Grove Cemetery Mausoleum which will be officiated by Father Zachary Galiyas. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the cemetery on Saturday by 10:50 am to conduct full military honors. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.
