Riverside Panthers Varsity Takes Some Time To Pull Away From New Brighton

Riverside Panthers Varsity and New Brighton played a taut affair on Thursday, but Riverside Panthers Varsity eventually prevailed 7-4 after taking the lead for good in the fifth inning. The game was tied at two with Riverside Panthers Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Cristian Cicchinelli singled off of Debo, driving in one run.

Riverside Panthers Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Austin Dambach drove in one when he singled in the first inning.

After Riverside Panthers Varsity scored one run in the top of the sixth, New Brighton answered with one of their own. Riverside Panthers Varsity scored when Ty Thellman doubled off of Debo, driving in one run. New Brighton then answered when Francona grounded out, scoring one run.

New Brighton evened things up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error scored one run for New Brighton.

Riverside Panthers Varsity scored three runs in the seventh inning. Riverside Panthers Varsity’s big inning was driven by a single by Ricky Wass and a walk by Thellman.

Danny Fox earned the win for Riverside Panthers Varsity. He threw five innings, giving up three runs, five hits, striking out three, and walking one. Debo took the loss for New Brighton. He tossed six innings, surrendering four runs, eight hits, striking out seven, and walking one.

Riverside Panthers Varsity collected nine hits. Wass, Cristian Cicchinelli, and Thellman each collected multiple hits for Riverside Panthers Varsity. Thellman, Cicchinelli, and Wass each collected two hits to lead Riverside Panthers Varsity.

 

 

Riverside Panthers Varsity Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Freedom Area

Riverside Panthers Varsity took the lead for good in the fifth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Freedom Area by a 6-3 score on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Riverside Panthers Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Amelia Bailey singled off of #10, driving in two runs.

Freedom Area took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Freedom Area.

After Riverside Panthers Varsity scored two runs in the top of the third, Freedom Area answered with two of their own. Riverside Panthers Varsity scored when Tori Jacobs doubled off of #10, driving in two runs. Freedom Area then answered when #10 singled off of MaKenzie McElwain, driving in one run and #17 laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Riverside Panthers Varsity evened things up at three in the top of the fourth inning. Kaitlinn Bowser singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the fourth inning, scoring one run.

McElwain earned the win for Riverside Panthers Varsity. She pitched seven innings, giving up three runs, and five hits. #10 took the loss for Freedom Area. She tossed seven innings, surrendering six runs, 13 hits, striking out ten, and walking one.

Riverside Panthers Varsity had 13 hits in the game. Amelia Bailey, Jacobs, Marissa Gazda, and Marissa Harper each collected multiple hits for Riverside Panthers Varsity. Harper, Gazda, Jacobs, and Bailey each managed two hits to lead Riverside Panthers Varsity.

Freedom Area tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. #1 led the way with two.
