Ellwood City Wolverines Loses Lead Early in Defeat

Ellwood City Wolverines watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to West Allegheny on Saturday.

West Allegheny scored on a single by Justin Usenicnik in the first inning and a double by Trey Zeroski in the second inning. West Allegheny took an early lead in the first inning.

With two outs in the first inning Justin Usenicnik drove in one run when he singled. Conner Bartley earned the win for West Allegheny. He threw three innings, giving up zero runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Three relievers helped West Allegheny close out the victory.

Seth Rosen threw two innings. Mike Starkman recorded the last three outs to earn the save for West Allegheny. Noah Rinker took the loss for Ellwood City Wolverines. He went two and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, striking out one, and walking one.

Ethan Fuchs, Rick Pitrelli, and Rinker all had one hit to lead Ellwood City Wolverines.

West Allegheny had nine hits in the game. Chasen Claus, Austin Hendrick, and Devin Donaldson each collected multiple hits for West Allegheny.

 

Steel Valley Captures Lead Early to Defeat Riverside Panthers Varsity

Riverside Panthers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to Steel Valley on Thursday. Steel Valley scored on a home run by #24, a triple by #13, an error, and a fielder’s choice by #28 in the first inning.

Steel Valley captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning #24 drove in two runs when she homered.

A single by MaKenzie McElwain in the fourth inning was a positive for Riverside Panthers Varsity.

#28 earned the win for Steel Valley. She tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out four, and walking zero. McElwain took the loss for Riverside Panthers Varsity. She pitched four innings, surrendering 13 runs, 11 hits, and walking one.

Tori Jacobs and McElwain each managed one hit to lead Riverside Panthers Varsity.

Steel Valley collected 11 hits. #24 and #28 each collected multiple hits for Steel Valley. Steel Valley was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. #28 made the most plays with three.
