Sandra L. Kirkham, 73

Sandra L. Kirkham, 73, of Ellwood City, went to be with her love, Gary, on Saturday, March 25, 2017.

She was born on September 27, 1943 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late James and Ruby Hiner.  She spent most of her childhood in the San Fernando Valley, California.  Her family returned to Lincoln Park, Michigan where she graduated from Lincoln Park High School.  While in high school, Sandra was a member of the choral and marching band.  She was the editor of the school paper, The Railsplitter and also the yearbook.  She received the Pen and Quill Award.  Upon graduation, she returned to California. While there, she traveled for four years with the Crafts 20 Big Shows Carnival throughout the Western United States.  She then moved to Ellwood City, where she married Gary Kirkham.  Sandra worked at Airway Luggage from 1977 to 1984.  She then went to Lawrence County VoTech and graduated as President of her Licensed Practical Nursing Class.  Upon graduation, she worked at Hillview Manor until she retired.  She later came out of retirement and worked part time at Passavant in Zelienople and part time at Northview Estates in Ellwood City for three years.

Sandra enjoyed traveling with her BFF, Olivia.  She also enjoyed reading, crosswords, casinos and gardening.  She loved her beagle, Lucy.  She made sure the deer, turkey and squirrels had corn all winter.

Sandra leaves behind a daughter, Marjorie (Tee) Pierre of Chambersburg, PA, a son, Jim Kirkham, of Ellwood City, eight grandchildren; Dane, Leah, Cole, Chloe, Cienna, Seth, Jarret and Shane, four great-grandchildren; Zaine, Skyla, Zion and Parker Joseph and a brother, James (Nancy) Hiner of Michigan.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sandra was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Wardrop.

At Sandra’s request, there will be no visitation or services.  She will be interred in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania with her husband, Gary in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
