Bernstine Announces State Funding to Help Area Veterans

ELLWOOD CITY — Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that three organizations in the 10th District dedicated to assisting local veterans received more than $15,000 in grant funding through the Pennsylvania Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF).

The Beaver County Office of Veterans Affairs received $7,500, and the Lawrence County Office of Veterans Affairs received $3,000 to enhance outreach for veterans.

Additionally, the Pennsylvania Veterans Assistance Fund of Beaver Falls in Beaver County received $5,000 for services related to assist with veteran homelessness, post-traumatic stress and chemical exposure.

“More than 900,000 veterans call Pennsylvania home, and many of them live here in the 10th District,” Bernstine said. “These men and women deserve the best possible care and services we can offer, so I’m pleased to see this money going to groups that work hard to help veterans live full, healthy and engaging lives.”

The VTF is administered by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

The grants are funded by Pennsylvanians who voluntarily made a $3 donation when applying for or renewing their driver’s license or photo ID and renewing a motor vehicle registration, proceeds from the sale of the Honoring Our Veterans license plate and private donations.

Since the grant program began in 2013, more than $2 million has been awarded to organizations providing services to veterans in Pennsylvania.

“I would like to thank every Pennsylvanian who donated to this cause,” Bernstine said. “These grant awards are proof that your contribution is aiding local veterans and their families.”

  1. An explanation is long overdue as to why the Republican party voted against nine veteran assistance bills HR 466, 1168, 1171, 1172, 1293, 1803, 2352, 5059, and 1511.
