Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Feb. 13, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

A “Valentine Heart Contest” for children 10 years of age and younger from Monday, February 13, through Saturday, February 18. – All area children are welcome to participate in this week-long activity. Just find and count the number of hearts hidden in the Children’s Area of the Library, report that correct number to a staff member at the desk and receive a special valentine prize. Wednesday, February 15, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, February 15, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, February 16, at 3:00 p.m. – “Just 4 Girls,” a book discussion group for girls in 9th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “Life As We Knew It,” by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, February 16, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group which meets at the library each week. Members provide their own materials and work on individual projects. Call the library for more information.

The library will be closed on Monday, February 20, in observance of the Presidents’ Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, February 21.

Plans are to resume the “Movie Nights for Adults” in February, with the date set for Wednesday, February 22. Movies will continue to be held monthly through the end of the year. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown. Should winter weather be threatening that day, please call the library to make sure the event has not been rescheduled.

The springtime Preschool Story Hour and Family Laptime sessions will begin in March. Story Hour starts March 2 and runs through April 13, while Family Laptime starts on March 7 and continues through April 18.

Family Laptime is an interactive program for babies as young as 6 months of age, for toddlers and preschoolers. Story Hour is designed for preschoolers 3 years of age and older. Both feature stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities and more. Call the library for more information or to register for these programs.
