The Riverside Lady Panthers knocked off rival Ellwood City 55-31 to wrap up a season sweep of the Wolverines and also clinch a playoff birth in the WPIAL Class 3A Playoffs Thursday night.

The Panthers (14-3 overall, 7-2 section) rebounded from a sluggish first quarter and used two 18-point quarters in the second half to pull away from the host Wolverines.

Riverside has four players reach double figures in scoring, including a game-high 17 points from Sydney Wolf.  Sisters Lauren (13 points) and Bekeh Bettencourt (12 points) along with Shayla Bentel (10 points) rounded out the balanced scoring attack for the Panthers.

Riverside was without sophomore Natalie Bologna and freshman Marley Wolf – both out with injury.

For the Wolverines (5-15 overall, 1-9 section), Breonna Streit connected on three 3-pointers and Natalia Greco shared team-high scoring honors with nine points in defeat.

After clinching a playoff berth, Riverside now turns it attention to a possible section crown.  The Panthers currently sit in second place in their section and will need a strong finish to boast their section title hopes.  Riverside next plays at Beaver Falls tonight, and will next host Neshannock on Monday in section action.
