Election Day at a Glance

Yesterday was quite an intense day for politicians and voters alike; not only was the new president of the United States announced, so were those running for the U.S. Senate, 12th Congressional, and 10th State House.

President:

Many viewers were on the edge of their seats last night waiting for the result of the 45th presidential election, which was finally announced in the early morning hours. Unexpectedly, Trump prevailed by far over his Democratic opponent -winning 276 electoral votes to Clinton’s final count of 218.

As with every election, there are some pretty mixed feelings about the new president. Supposedly, there have been riots reported in California, Oregon, Washington D.C. and a select few other states, in retaliation to the election results.

U.S. Senate:

Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty had a close race for U.S. Senate; Toomey won, with a positive margin in Toomey’s favor, of roughly 150,000 votes.

12th Congressional:

12th Congressional nominee, Keith Rothfus was victorious over Erin McClelland with a total of 217,362 votes to McClelland’s 133,448.

10th State House Representative:

Our local election for the 10th State House Representative between Aaron Bernstine and Jaret Gibbons- something our community has been involved with on a personal level since the beginning, named the triumph as Aaron Bernstine, who said he is “humbled” for this opportunity.

All winning candidates listed are republican.

Hopefully, those who were elected will provide what is needed for the greater good of the Nation.

Oh how I long for the old “Sound Off” site. I would love to ask the Omnipotent One how that Hillary Presidency is going… LOLOLOLOL….

  2. Since there was a lack of jobs for college graduates in Ellwood City and the surrounding area, I left the small town that I loved to pursue my professional career. The Democrats for years have promised to bring jobs to Ellwood City since the early 1980s and always lambasted the Republicans as the party of the rich. I continually heard while growing up that the Democrats were for the poor and the republicans are for the rich. When I heard this, I registered Republican. I wanted to become rich..LOL.

I see that Ellwood City has finally shaken off the yoke of the empty promises of the Democrats and have voted overwhelmingly Republican. Back in the 80s, my friend James Gerlach (Jimmie) ran against an incompetent Democratic candidate for the Legislative seat now held the newly elected Republican Aaron Bernstine. Congrats to Aaron! Jimmie was one the most gifted person that understood economics more than anyone I had ever met. Thirty years later this still holds true in my opinion. I truly believe had Ellwood City elected their hometown boy Jimmie as state legislator back in 1986, Ellwood City would now be a prosperous suburb of Pittsburgh.

When Jimmie left Ellwood City and move to Chester County, he become a State Legislator, State Senator and then elected to the US House of Representatives in 2002. Congressman Gerlach was instrumental in bringing growth and prosperity to Southeastern Pennsylvania by limiting regulations, creating tax incentives for businesses, and working closely with entrepreneurs incorporating their ideas, along the Chamber of Commerce, in creating new startup companies and attracting businesses to the area.

If Jimmie would have won the election in 1986, Ellwood would be a prosperous community, and I would have never left Ellwood City and would not be writing this blog.
