Registration Open For Annual Gobbler’s Gallop On Thanksgiving

The 21st annual Gobbler’s Gallop will take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, at Riverside High School’s Memorial Stadium.

The 10K run starts at 9 a.m. followed by a 5K run at 10:15 a.m. Participants in the 5K walk can walk the course anytime between 9 and 11 a.m.

November 18th is the last day to pre-register at the lower price – $15 for the 10K, 5K or walk or $18 for both the 5K and the 10K runs. All those pre-registered will receive a T-shirt.

race-legsRegistration after Nov. 18 will be $18 for the 5K or 10K runs or 5K walk. The cost for the 5K and 10K races is $21. Those who register late will receive a T-shirt only if available.

Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group for both the 5K and 10K. Age groups are: 13 and younger, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and older.

Proceeds benefit the Riverside High School and Lincoln High School cross country teams as well as the Riverside Community Education Foundation.

Last year the event attracted 364 runners – 113 in the 10K race and 251 runners in the 5K run.

In 2015, Billy Lott, 17, of Ellwood City, was first in the 10K race in 35:29.80 minutes and took second in the 5K, posting a time of 17:15.90. Joseph Franze, 22, of Pittsburgh won the 5K with a time of 17:09.00.

In last year’s 10K race, Leslie Kramer, 38, of Slippery Rock, was the top female finisher. She was 13th overall with a time of 42:34.40. Alyssa Campbell, 15, of New Brighton, won the 5K with a time of 20:50.00. She was 18th overall.

Joe Fisher is again the race director.
