WesBanco Donation Will Help STEAM Instruction

Ellwood City, PA – Lincoln Junior Senior High School is set to receive a $25,000 donation from WesBanco, the financial institution has continued to reach beyond the brick and mortar walls of their buildings to have a direct impact in lives of local students.

The funding is part of a plan to generate STEAM programs at Lincoln Junior Senior High School.  The new Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics programs will enable the Ellwood City Area School District to prepare the next generation workforce.

“We want our students to engage in project based learning opportunities that reflect what they will see in the real world,” said ECASD Vice Principal John Sovich.  “Our partnership with WesBanco will give us the needed equipment and technology to prepare our students for careers that do not even exist yet.”

ECASD will receive $25,000 to improve STEAM education in the district. The funding will be used to:

  • Provide advanced manufacturing and prototyping technology within ECASD
  • Increase STEAM curriculum and program offerings
  • Provide additional support for teaching advanced engineering and design concepts
  • Expand students’ college and career readiness through problem based learning projects

“We are thrilled to engage in this partnership with Wesbanco and would like to thank them for being progressive with this funding stream for the school district.  The Ellwood City Area School District is committed to finding creative ways to fund these projects.  The donation will be directly applied to the tools and technology that our students are going to need to become competitive within the global marketplace.”

In addition to the funding, WesBanco continues to show our local Ellwood City community support by directly investing in the students that will build the future.
