Roweine E. “Sis” Ellefson Rice, 88 , of St. Barnabas Retirement Community, Valencia PA , formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully at The Arbors Three at St. Barnabas, on Sunday morning, August 28 2016.
She was born in Ellwood City on July 15, 1928 to the late John A. Ellefson, and the late Roweine Karch Ellefson.
Roweine graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, class of 1947.
She worked at the former Beaver Falls plant of Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products, with over 39 years service in the accounting department.
She enjoyed golfing and belonged to the Connoquenessing Country Club in Ellwood City for many years, where she won the womens club championship four times.
Roweine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas O. Rice, whom she married on September 20 1952.
Also surviving are one sister and one brother: Ellen Barjuca of Lexington KY; and John W. (and Ann) Ellefson of Gettysburg PA.
Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Malzina Saunders.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
