Robert M. Buzzelli, 73, of Perry Twp. passed away on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 in the Butler Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1942 in New Castle to the late Domenik and Louise Capone Buzzelli. He is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1960 Bob enlisted with the U.S. Army on March 12, 1964 and served with the Company A 20th Engineering Battalion until his discharge on March 3, 1966. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Following his service with the Army, Bob worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill in both Koppel and Beaver Falls as a pipe fitter and welder until the mill closed. He then worked at the Ellwood City Ledger as an assistant manager and later at the Northview Estates as a maintenance man. Bob is also a member of the West Minister United Presbyterian Church in New Brighton.
He enjoyed going to car cruises with his 1972 green Cutlass, and had served as co-chairman of the Ellwood City Car Cruise for several years. Bob enjoyed all sports, but was mostly an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lambert Buzzelli, whom he married on May 27, 1967, his daughter, Krista Buzzelli and her fiance Todd Davis of Ellwood City, his son, Jeremy (Leah) Buzzelli of Avon, Ohio, his two grandchildren, Jaxson Davis and Emilia Buzzelli, his sister, Kathy (Nick) Nardone of Ellwood City, and his two brothers, Michael (Judy) Buzzelli, and Anthony (Lorraine) Buzzelli both of Ellwood City.
As per Bob’s wishes there will not be a public visitation. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 by 11:45 a.m. to form a procession to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies where a Memorial Service for Bob will be held. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jordan Rimmer. Memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
