James L. Beatrice, 73

James L. Beatrice, 73, of Wampum Rd., Ellwood City passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital.

Born October 16, 1942 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Carmen J. and Elizabeth Muoio Beatrice. He was married for 33 years to Karen Queen Beatrice as they were married February 16, 1983.

Jim was the retired owner and operator of J. Beatrice Foods. He and his wife, Karen had formerly owned the Nautical Lounge in Beaver Falls. Jim also had been a bartender at the Moose Club in Ellwood City for many years. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and then served his country in the AirForce. Upon his discharge, Jim furthered his education, graduating from Youngstown State University. He was Catholic by faith. Jim was a member, officer and orator for the SOI and a member of the Saxon and Moose Clubs, all in Ellwood City. Jim coached and sponsored “Lil Angels” girls softball for a number of years. .He enjoyed skiing, golfing, making homemade wine, smoking a good cigar, but his most cherished time was spent with his family and his beloved dogs, Bailey and Lexie.

In addition to his wife, Karen, survivors include four daughters, Paula “Kim” Gavala of Butler, Lori (Rodney) Venezie, Sarah Beatrice, and Jamie Beatrice, all of Ellwood City; four grandchildren, Chelsea (fiancé- Bill Cercone) Haney, Kayla Gavala, Ricco Venezie, Logan Gavala; one great grand children, Lily Cercone; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marlene Gruber.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 2 from 2-4 and 6 until the time of the Blessing Service at 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.  Onine condolences may be sent to marshallsfh.com.

  1. Jim was an old ” North Side ” friend whom I grew up with. My condolences to his family. Ellwood lost a good man… Ray Fontana
