Gibbons Invites Public to Town Hall Meeting 6 p.m. Thursday

NEW BRIGHTON, June 13 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, will host a sixth town hall meeting to update residents on local community events and important state government-related issues.

The town hall will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16 in  Pulaski Township Building, 3401 Sunflower Road, New Brighton.

“I am holding town hall meetings in various locations of my district in order to give everyone a chance to participate in the discussion,” Gibbons said.

Gibbons will discuss state and local-related issues affecting residents in his legislative district. The topics include Property Tax/Rent Rebate extension, the proposed increase in PACENET income eligibility and the newly announced Shell cracker plant that is expected to generate thousands of jobs in the area.

This week, Gibbons voted for and members of the state House approved a bill that would increase the income eligibility for PACENET, the state’s prescription drug assistance program for older Pennsylvanians.

“The income limits haven’t been changed in 14 years and I don’t want to see any senior citizen disqualified from the program because of a slight change in income or someone who is unable to initially qualify for the program,” Gibbons said.

The PACE program, which was established in 1983, has income limits set at $14,500 for a single person and $17,700 for a couple. Under the bill Gibbons voted for, PACENET, which began in 1996, would see its limits rise from $23,500 to $31,000 for a single person and from $31,500 to $41,000 for a couple.

Gibbons said the program’s proposed eligibility increase would include an additional 32,000 low-income seniors.

Gibbons represents the 10th Legislative District. His Ellwood City office is at 438 Line Ave.; phone 724-752-1133.
