Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of 5-30-2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday.

Wednesday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. From the second Monday in June through the month of July, these sessions will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Mondays instead of Wednesdays. Call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Wednesday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “The Arsonist,” by Sue Miller. More information is available by calling the library.

Thursday, June 2, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group. This group meets year-around with members providing their own materials and working on individual projects. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.

The library’s annual Summer Reading Program begins the week of June 6 with the first in a series of six weekly “Family Laptimes” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, and with a “Family Movie Night,” featuring a full-length family film, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9.

Beginning the following week are various weekly summer programs including “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” which begins June 14; weekly programs for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade beginning June 15; Puppet Theater Workshop, designed for children in 4th grade and up, beginning June 16; monthly book discussion groups for children who have just completed 3rd grade as well as for those who have just completed 4th or 5th grades; monthly Family Movie Nights and much more.

In addition, the library’s regular book discussion groups for teens and tweens will continue to meet monthly as they do all year long.

Flyers are available at the library with all the information needed. Registration is required for most of the programs, so call the library now to take part in a “summer of fun” at the library.

“Movie Nights for Adults,” will be held monthly through the end of the year. Featured are new-to-DVD films, and the evenings are open to all area adults free of charge. The next movie is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29, at 6:00 p.m. Join us for a movie and refreshments! Call the library for more information or to discover the titles of the movies to be shown.
