James A. Nye, 86

James A. Nye, 86, of Utica, PA, formerly of Rose Point, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016 at his residence in Utica.

He was born in Ellwood City on August 4, 1929 to the late Henry Richard Nye and the late Mary Willa Williams Nye.  He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  James married his wife of 44 years, Sara Jean Wimer Nye, on June 9, 1956.  She preceded him in death on December 4, 2000.  He worked as a farmer and also the former Ellwood Works of U.S. Steel and was an assistant manager at the U.S. Department of Mines in Boyers.  He was a member of Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church and F.&A.M. #599, Ellwood Lodge.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry James Nye, on November 19, 2013, as well as his granddaughter, Sarah Grace Nye.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters: Ross, Marion, and David, and Ellen, Mae, Ruth, Esther, Janet, Lillian, Frances, and Margaret.

James is survived by his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Miller Nye of Utica, PA, two granddaughters, Jennifer and Megan, and a grandson, Logan.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at TURNER’S with the Rev. Charles Brown, pastor of Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Slippery Rock Township.

Members of F.&A.M. #599 Ellwood Lodge are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:45 P.M. on Thursday evening to conduct a Masonic Funeral Service

Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:45 A.M. on the day of the service to conduct full military rites.
