The Lady Wolverines put up a valiant effort Thursday evening but Shaler scored four runs in the top of the seventh to come away with a 10-3 victory.
Maura Agostinelli and Zoe Maine led the six hit attack with two singles apiece. Taylor Covert had a two out of two run single and Madi Krugh also contributed a single to the cause. Agostinelli, Sydni Haswell and Sarah Boots each scored a run for the Wolverines.
The defense was solid once again as they committed just two errors in the seven inning affair. Catcher Maria Ioanilli gunned down a runner at second base attempting to steal and also picked another runner off at first base. Shortstop Stormy Fiello handled four ground balls flawlessly and also teamed with second baseman Covert and first baseman Isabella Roth to turn a 6-4-3 double play.
Madi Krugh took the loss in the circle but continued to improve on her control, velocity and command. The lanky lefty gave up 12 hits and struck out four. The team, now 0-6, will resume play Tuesday evening as North Hills will visit Stiefel Park for a 6 p.m. start.
