Stealing Prescription Pills from a Garbage Bin

  • According to the criminal complaint, on April 12 at approximately 8 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle for an expired registration. The operator was cited. The investigating officer asked the passenger, Edward Allen Laurain, Jr., 45, of Ellwood City, for permission to search a backpack. The officer discovered a prescription bottle for oxycodone prescribed to somebody who wasn’t Laruain and containing three Percocets and one Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. Laurain admitted to finding the bottle in a garbage bin. Laurain was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances.

Driving Under the Influence of Marijuana

  • According to the criminal complaint, on March 16 at approximately 11:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop at Fifth Street bridge due to a vehicle having no headlights on. The driver was identified as Jonathan James Bakey, 19, of Ellwood City, who appeared to be under the influence. Bakey failed a field sobriety test and a search of his car revealed four burnt marijuana blunts and a baggie of suspected marijuana weighing approximately 11.2 grams. He was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital for blood testing. Bakey was charged with a DUI and marijuana possession.

Driving Under the Influence

  • According to the criminal complaint, on April 6 at approximately 12:30 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop due to a vehicle traveling the wrong way through a one-way section of Beaver Avenue. The driver, Jeffrey Ronald Rosak, 41, of Ellwood City, appeared intoxicated. He was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital for a blood test and charged with two counts of DUI and driving the wrong way on a one-way.

  1. The jokes on all you citizens! Look at all these petty marijuana offenses and realize that the only ones profiting are the police and criminal justice system. A police officer shouldn’t be making over 100k! Oh and good luck citizens bc your paying for an officer to retire bc he got sent to rehab! I bet that won’t make the news.
