Joan M. Fotia, 87

Joan M. Fotia, 87, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in her residence with her loving family at her side.

Joan was born on Dec. 4, 1928 in Ellwood City to the late Cecil (Cesare) and Loretta Vita Berry Giardine. Joan is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1946, and the Holy Redeemer Parish. She had worked at the Manos Theater and National Plumbing as a secretary for several years. She later worked as a seamstress for Fotia Bros. for numerous years. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joan enjoyed sewing, decorating and spending time with her family. She also had a passion for classic movies.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Debra (Greg) Paul and Leslie (Mark) Mudric both of Ellwood City, her two sons, Frank Fotia and his wife Patricia Hilton of Cumberland, MD, and Jim (Sherrie) Fotia of North Sewickley Twp., her eight grandchildren, Jen (Dan) Dohmlo, Greg (Christine) Paul, Collin Fotia, Adam Fotia, Jimmy Fotia, Jason Fotia, Chelsey Mudric, and Ashley (Matt) Herko, and her four great-grandchildren, Vincent Paul, Landon Herko, Vivian Paul, and Willow Herko.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ferrante of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vincent Fotia whom she married on Oct. 14, 1950 and passed away on Sept. 22, 2012, her brother, David Giardine, her step-sister, Josephine DeCecio, and her step-brothers, Tony and Sam Barry.

A Private visitation and mass of Christian burial will held for the family on Saturday. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
