Women Assaults Man with Knife

  • Devon Rand Crocker, 23, of Ellwood City, was accused of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children for an incident on April 3. According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to a domestic situation on Franklin Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. Investigating officers made contact with the victim, Crocker’s boyfriend, in the hallway of a second floor apartment. He reported that following a verbal altercation lasting several hours, Crocker attacked her mother and him with a knife. The victim was able to disarm Crocker, but was bitten repeatedly. These actions occurred in the presence of Crocker’s four-year old daughter. While officers were escorting Crocker out of the building, she bit an officer on the arm. Crocker was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.

Intoxicated Man Drops Cocaine Baggie on Floor of Hospital

  • According to the criminal complaint, on March 23 around midnight, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Spring Avenue and Fifth Street after witnessing a vehicle fail to use a turn signal. The driver was identified as Lonnie Alan McCune, 40, of Ellwood City. McCune appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. McCune was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital where a clear plastic baggie containing suspected cocaine fell from McCune’s person. On April 6, a toxicology report showed McCune to have cocaine in his blood. He was charged with a DUI, failing to use a turn signal and possession of a controlled substance.

Man Steals Semi-Truck

  • According to the criminal complaint, on March 28, Tyrone David Freed, 50, of Ellwood City, stole a semi-truck valued at $160,000 from WL Byers trucking containing $70,000 in railroad transmissions. Freed drove to Texas and used a card belonging to the victim to purchase $3,500 in diesel fuel. Freed’s location was determined via his cell phone, and the Dallas police department apprehended him. He was charged with theft, access device fraud and unauthorized use of automobiles.
