Gibbons Announces Penn State’s Food for Profit Workshop

HARRISBURG, March 31 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, has announced a one-day workshop titled Food for Profit that is designed to help people with business management concerns.

Gibbons said getting started in a business can be a daunting experience and the workshop will help people work through the maze of local and state regulations, food safety issues, and business management concepts that should be considered in setting up a commercial food service business.

“The program takes people through a step-by-step process to show what it takes to effectively market their product,” Gibbons said.

The course will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 at the New Castle Public Library, 207 E. North St., New Castle.

Gibbons said the program is designed to develop skills to be innovative and visionary in the food business.

The cost is $55 per person and includes all materials and lunch. Prepayment and registration are required for the workshop. People can sign up at extension.psu.edu/food/safety/entrepreneurs or by calling the registration coordinator at 717-921-8803 by Tuesday, April 5.
