Cortney Harden Joins RAYSL Training Staff

As Riverside Area Youth Soccer League grows, so too does it’s training staff. After adding Doug Miller to the Club in the Fall 2015 season, RAYSL recently added alum Cortney Harden as a Technical Trainer.

“Bringing Cortney on is very exciting for us,” Club President Derek Zona said. “Over the past year, our Board has been focused on finding a skilled female trainer who can make a positive impact on the lives of the young ladies in the club, acting as both a mentor and a role model.”

Harden’s immediate focus will be Riverside’s U12 and U14 girls’ teams. She will work closely with the Club’s Technical Director, Walter Clapton, to implement a training plan for the Spring 2016 season.

Harden is a RAYSL alumnus, as well as a 2015 graduate of Riverside High School. Harden was a four year letter-winner at Riverside. She currently attends Penn State Beaver where she started 13 games in her first season, scoring six goals and tallying four assists. Harden has previously worked as a volunteer assistant for Coach Eric Rosendale for RAYSL’s U14 teams, and volunteer assistant for the Riverside High school Girls Varsity team.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the girls,” Harden said. “I was always worried about over stepping my boundaries being an assistant, but now I’m excited for the opportunity to help out and dive right in.”

On the field, Harden is a defender with a nose for coming forward, evidenced by her 40+ shots and 6 goals for her Penn State Beaver squad during the fall season. “Cortney’s understanding of what it takes to succeed in high school and beyond will help inspire the young ladies in our Club,” Zona said. “She’s both physical and skilled and offers the girls a chance to measure themselves against an accomplished female athlete.”

“Being able to give back to a Club that helped me with so much along the way is very gratifying,” Harden said.
