Robert R. McGrady, 80

Robert R. McGrady, 80, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family.

Robert was born on March 28, 1935 in Columbia, S.C. to the late Matthew M. McGrady and Leila Belle Coulter McGrady. Bob earned his GED in 1968 from Riverside High School and attended the Community College of Beaver County. He retired after 30 years service from Babcock and Wilcox in Koppel where he worked as a certified roll turner, crane operator, head timekeeper and bar mill recorder. Bob was also a professional painter at E.I. DuPont in Camden, S.C., and for W. Bauder of Middle Lancaster, Pa. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. He enjoyed small motor, auto, and appliance repairs, fishing, boating, wood carving and playing pool.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanne Contino McGrady, a daughter Barbara J. Johnston of West Columbia, S.C., two sons: R. Michael McGrady (Susan) of Baden, and John S. McGrady (Polly) of Ellwood City, eight grandchildren: Laura B. McGrady, Ross M. McGrady (Michelina), Aaron J. Schock (Jessica), Matthew W. Schock (Sharon), Tara R. Schock, Casey H. McGrady, Jared R. McGrady (Jessica), and Jordan McGrady, a sister, Mary Waldridge of Gramercy, La., two brothers, Thomas L. McGrady of Kenneth City, Fla. and Donald M. McGrady of Gramercy, La., five great-grandchildren, 21 nieces and nephews, and many great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne M. Schock, a son-in-law Randall Y. Johnston, two sisters: Mattie Clark and M. Elizabeth McGrady and four brothers: Harry M. McGrady, James M. McGrady, Elvis J. McGrady, and David L. McGrady.

Friends will be received on Monday, March 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Tuesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Zachary Galiyas Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s name to the charity of your choice.
