Albert J. Amadio, 85

Albert J. Amadio, 85, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 in the Ellwood City Hospital Emergency Room.

Amadio was born on Dec. 5, 1930 in Ellwood City to the late Nazzareno and Susan Orsini Amadio. He is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and had served as an usher for many years at the church. He had worked at the Ellwood City Tube Mill for several years, and then at the Aetna Standard Engineering Co., where he retired from in 1986 with 34 years of service. Albert had also worked as a carpenter for his son’s construction business, Dom Amadio’s Construction. He is also a member of the Sons of Italy #608 and the Hungarian Club.

He is survived by his wife Clementine Mazzei Amadio whom he married on May 26, 1951, his daughters, Elaine (Bruce) Blythe of Ellwood City and Lucy (Ron) Mitchelle of Darlington, his sons, Domenic (Linda) Amadio of Ellwood City and Nathan Amadio of New Castle, his seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Anna Amadio of Ellwood City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Gloria Colao, Ann Portugallo, Lucretia Minnocci, and Frances DeAntonio, and his brothers, Theodore Amadio and Gino Amadio.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:20 a.m. Memorial contributions in Albert’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
