Alberta Patrizio Wegner, 87

Alberta Patrizio Wegner, 87, formerly of Ellwood City passed away peacefully following a short illness on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones.

Alberta was born on June 3, 1928 to the late Stephen and Anna Kulikowski Gumienny in Ellwood City. She was married to Neblo Anthony Patrizio for 45 years. They raised their family in Ellwood City and were active in church, school and community events. Members of Pine Hill Pioneer Campers, they enjoyed cross country travel and camping. Following Neblo’s death in 1993, Alberta moved to Bradenton, Fla. where she lived for several years.

While in Florida, Alberta, an avid fan and volunteer for the Pittsburgh Pirates Booster Club met fellow volunteer Bruce Wegner at Spring Training. They married in 1997 and enjoyed travel and activities together, most importantly the time they spent as volunteers for the Southeastern Guide Dogs and Meals on Wheels. They were also board members and remained active in the Bradenton Lions Club.

Alberta and Bruce, so grateful for what they had, firmly believed and demonstrated, “For those to whom much is given, much is required.” Alberta was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Alberta is survived by her children, Pat (Bobbi) Patrizio of Plum, Pa., Cindy (Chip) Patrizio Coppins of Chester Springs, Pa/; and Terri (Dave) Patrizio DeChellis of Center Twp., Pa.

Devoted to her family, Alberta loved the time spent with her grandchildren, Nick (Katie) Patrizio, Jeff (Erin) Patrizio, Stephen Coppins, Chris Coppins, Andrew DeChellis and Michael (Christina) Schreffler, and her four great-grandchildren, C.J., Stephanie, Sophia and Joseph.

Alberta is also survived by stepchildren, Brenda (Mark) Wegner Gehl, Bradd (Tammy) Wegner, and Cathy Wegner and many step-grand and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Patrizio in 1983, her sister, Theresa Howard, and her brothers, Bernard, Edward, and Henry Gumienny. V

isitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Holy Redeemer Church. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the Church on Tuesday by 10:50 to form an honor guard. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, St. Peters Mausoleum. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 9:20 a.m.
