Goldie F. Cochran Reese, 87

Goldie F. Cochran Reese, 87, formerly of Ellwood City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2016 at the Paramount Assisted Living Center in Pittsburgh.

She was born in Butler on April 21, 1928 to the late John Calvin Cochran and the late Hazel Biddle Cochran. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1947 and worked at the glass plant in Frisco before retiring from J.C. Penney Company in 1989 with 25 years of service. Goldie was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, where she married her late husband of 61 years, George R. Reese, Jr., on Oct. 25, 1952. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2013.

Goldie enjoyed golfing with her husband, gardening, sewing and quilting, and traveling, mostly to beaches on the east coast.  Goldie also enjoyed cooking and her specialty was a cheesecake that she would make on special occasions. She appeared in many advertisements and worked as an extra for various talent groups in Pittsburgh. She appeared in ads for Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling which was featured on local television and billboards, Ryers Shoe Store in Sharon, and for a grocery chain in Erie in which she drove a Dodge Charger. Goldie was also featured on the cover of Security Blue magazine and appeared in a scene with Matt Damon in the film “Dogma,” which was filmed in Pittsburgh.

The last of her family, she was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by two brothers and four sisters: James and Harold Cochran, Margaret Cooper, Tillie Wheeler, Esther Biddle, and Cleo Reasman.

Goldie is survived by two sons, Mark (and Judy) Reese of Pleasant Hills and Wade (and Beth) Reese of Harrisburg.  Two grandchildren, Amanda and Justin Reese, also survive, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Goldie had much love for her grandchildren and family.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 in the Turner Funeral Home of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 615 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117 with Rev. Sean Brubaker, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park in Butler.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Goldie’s name, to Calvin Presbyterian Church.
