Demolition of Properties for CVS Pharmacy Begins

Demolition for the CVS Pharmacy began earlier this month as crews brought down a few of the buildings.

The Pharmacy will be located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Fountain Avenue roughly across from the Rite Aid Pharmacy. The construction site consolidated 10 properties, including the old St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church. According to CVS sources, St. Agatha will possibly be deconstructed as opposed to demolished and the materials will be sold.

CVS’s time table indicated a start date late in 2015. However, according to Ellwood City Borough Officials, CVS had not yet completed all the proper work paperwork by December of 2015, so demolition didn’t begin until this month.

According to CVS sources, the new pharmacy is expected to open sometime next fall and the current CVS in Franklin Plaza will relocate to the new location.

  1. Such a shame. Beautiful stone masonry, sculpted by our own friends and family members within the community, that won’t even make it to see 100 years. Hopefully they sell the stone as I would buy one. Others might as well.

  2. I would love the opportunity to purchase a stain glass window. Have they been sold?

  3. I think the windows have already been taking out and may be at Holy Redeemer.

  4. Ridiculous why do you need two pharmacy’s that close beautiful building could be turned into a rec center for kids or something good for the community
