Dana Kaye Banko, 67

Dana Kaye Banko, 67, of Franklin Twp. passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 in her home.

Dana was born on Feb. 18, 1948 in Ellwood City to the late Paul “Bus” and Kathleen Allen McKinney. She is a member of the Riverside High School class of 1966, and the Holy Redeemer Parish. Dana had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill for 16 years, and later at the Eat-N-Park restaurant in Cranberry Twp. as a server for 25 years.

Dana lived for her children and husband, and adored all activities with them. She was a bingo player and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. She also enjoyed gardening and walking.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 40 years, Blaise A. Banko whom she married on Feb. 14, 1976, and the proud and amazing mother to her two daughters, Lauren Banko of Manchester, England, and Jordan (Justin) Tognarine of Pittsburgh, and her son, Blaise Banko, Jr. of Ellwood City.

She is also survived by her brother, Steve (Julie) McKinney of Franklin Twp., her sister-in-law, Lynn McKinney of Ellport, her brother-in-law, Gary Hazen of Florida and she was a much loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Paula Leasure and Susan L. Hazen, and her brother, Rex McKinney.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5 p.m. until the time of the Blessing Service at 7 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. Internment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dana’s name may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Pittsburgh Chapter, or to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
