Stang Leads Lady Panthers in Win Over Beaver Falls

Senior Katie Stang seized the win for Riverside in a conference home game against Beaver Falls yesterday.

Both teams were initially bogged down. The first quarter ended only 5-5, with many missed shots between the teams. By the end of the game, the Lady Panthers had collectively missed 36 of 76 shots.

However, Riverside was making enough shots to pull ahead by the second quarter, with Stang leading the way. Beaver Falls rallied in the third quarter, scoring 17 points to Riverside’s 19, but by the game’s conclusion, Riverside was firmly in the lead 59-41.

Stang scored 26 of those points, beating her previous record high of 25 in a game against Shenango. This included five three-point shots as the senior couldn’t be stopped on the court.

However, the win remained a team effort with senior Abbey Matiko bringing in 15 points and four other athletes scoring. Defensively, Morgan Bailey had seven rebounds and blocked a shot.

Riverside remains undefeated at 7-0 and is now 3-0 in their class AA conference. The Lady Panthers travel to Neshannock on Monday.
