Lady Wolverines Fall Behind Early, Lose to Ambridge

The Ambridge Bridgers defeated the Ellwood City Lady Wolverines 55-44 in a home non-conference game yesterday. The game was the first section challenge for Ellwood City.

Had Ellwood reached their potential by the third quarter, they may have won. Ambridge consistently outscored Ellwood for the first three quarters, closing at 50-27. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Wolverines exploded, scoring 17 to Ambridge’s 4, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Ellwood’s Karrington Katterer had an impressive game with 18 points and an 80 percent field goal success rate. Unfortunately, she was outscored by Ambridge’s Sydney Rabold with 21 points. The Bridger’s Sarah Fischer was the third highest scorer with 13 points.

Ellwood is now 2-3 overall and 0-1 in their conference. They host Central Valley on Monday in a conference game.

The Lady Wolverines won the junior varsity game 37-34, with freshmen Isabella Roth leading Ellwood with 10 points.
